Each copper piece from The Universe Collections is made from solid natural copper and is intended to evolve over time.

Copper naturally reacts with air, moisture, water, and the oils from your hands. As a result, the surface may develop variations in color, fingerprints, darker areas, oxidation, and natural patina.

These changes are inherent to the material and are not considered defects.

Copper pieces are non-returnable and non-refundable.

Because the appearance of natural copper changes with handling, exposure, and environmental conditions, changes in color, oxidation, patina, surface marks, or variations that develop over time are not grounds for return, exchange, refund, or replacement.

By purchasing a copper piece, you acknowledge and accept the natural characteristics and evolving appearance of solid copper.

How to Care for Your Copper

If you prefer to maintain the original satin/brushed appearance, you can periodically clean and refinish the copper at home.

What You Will Need

Copper cleaner or copper polish
0000 steel wool
Soft microfiber cloth
Mild soap
Water
Clean gloves

Always test the process on a small, discreet area first.

STEP 1 — CLEAN

Gently wash the copper with water and mild soap to remove dust, fingerprints, oils, and surface residue.

Rinse thoroughly.

Dry completely with a soft microfiber cloth.

STEP 2 — POLISH

Apply a small amount of copper cleaner or polish to a soft cloth.

Gently work the product over the surface to remove oxidation and marks.

Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer of your copper cleaner.

Rinse the copper thoroughly after polishing and dry completely.

Never leave cleaning product residue on the copper.

STEP 3 — RESTORE THE BRUSHED FINISH

Once the copper is completely dry, use 0000 steel wool to gently refine the surface.

Move the steel wool in one consistent direction.

Do not use circular movements.

Use very light pressure. The purpose is to create a subtle, uniform satin texture—not to aggressively remove material.

STEP 4 — INSPECT

Wipe the surface with a clean microfiber cloth and examine the finish.

If necessary, repeat the process using very light pressure until you achieve the desired appearance.

Remember: the goal is a satin/brushed copper finish, not a mirror-polished surface.

STEP 5 — FINAL CLEANING

Remove all remaining particles with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.

Handle the copper with clean hands or gloves after refinishing to minimize fingerprints and oils.

Let It Age Naturally

You do not need to polish your copper.

In fact, many collectors prefer to let natural copper develop its own character.

With time, your piece may become darker, warmer, more varied, or develop areas of natural patina.

There is no single “correct” appearance.

The changing surface is part of the material—and part of the story of your object.

Important Care Notes

Do not use abrasive cleaners or coarse steel wool.
Do not scrub aggressively.
Do not use circular motions when creating the brushed finish.
Do not leave the copper submerged in water.
Always dry the surface completely after cleaning.
Avoid prolonged contact with chemicals, acidic substances, or harsh household cleaners.
If your piece includes other materials, protect those materials from copper cleaning products.
Always test any cleaning method on a discreet area first.
